New Grants Available for High Schools in Hawai’i to Add PLTW Pathways – Applications Due December 15th

We are excited to announce the following grant opportunity ONLY for High Schools of Hawai’i, public, private, and charter!

USA FUNDS GRANT COMPETITION

Important Dates

  • Application open: October 15, 2015
  • Application closes: December 15, 2015
  • Award Notification: January 2016

Eligibility Requirements

Please read and ensure all the eligibility requirements are met prior to applying.

NOTE: This is a competitive application process and applicants are not guaranteed funding.

  • PROGRAMMATIC: Schools must implement a new PLTW Engineering, PLTW Biomedical Science, and/or PLTW Computer Science program beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year. Schools must submit one application for each program for which they are interested in implementing beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year.
  • A High School brand new to PLTW may submit up to three proposals, one for each of the three pathways, if desired.
  • A High School with an existing PLTW Pathway may submit proposals to add new, additional pathways.

Launch Lead Teacher Training in November!

LAUNCH is the PLTW Program for Elementary.  Learn more about PLTW Launch!  All 24 ten-hour modules of curriculum are aligned to the Common Core and to the Next Generation Science Standards!  All modules use the PLTW Activity, Project, Problem-based Learning pedagogy!

We are pleased to announce a PLTW Launch Lead Teacher Training will be happening soon!  

When:
November 18,19, & 20
8:00am – 5:00pm

Where:  UH West Oahu Campus
What:  PLTW Launch Lead Teacher Training

  • Discover the PLTW Pedagogy of Activity, Project, Problem-Based Learning!
  • Engage in hands-on engineering design and scientific inquiry components from the PLTW curriculum for K-5!
  • Use iPad Apps embedded in PLTW modules!
  • Deepen your knowledge of engineering, computer science, and biomedical sciences!
  • Plan your school’s implementation of PLTW Launch!

Cost:  $750 per teacher, Lunch and Refreshments Included Daily
